You know, I’m just about at the point of denying I was born and raised in Arizona. I don’t think I can comfortably call it my home state anymore. The people are just getting too fucking crazy about everything. Guns and brown people are the most popular targets for them lately.
Case in point: some GOP jerkwad running for the AZ Corporation Commission is pushing for something that could actually result in deaths during the hot summers:
Many illegal immigrants could have a hard time getting power, water, natural-gas or phone service at their homes in Arizona if a political candidate gets his way. Barry Wong, a Republican candidate for the Arizona Corporation Commission, told The Arizona Republic on Tuesday that, if elected, he would require regulated utilities to check the immigration status of customers, a move he says would keep costs down for other customers.
…Serving a growing number of people with power, he said, raises utility rates because it requires building new power plants. He said asking utilities not to serve illegal immigrants could protect other ratepayers from utility hikes.
Well if it means saving money for everyone else, by all means! Cut those wetbacks off — they don’t need water or electricity anyway, the filthy brown bastards. This is the kind of thinking that apparently gets people political attention in Arizona nowadays. What’s next, demanding proof of citizenship before people can buy groceries? Why not, at this point?
I also noticed this guy’s last name is Wong. That indicates Asian heritage — is he so sure he can prove his citizenship? Shouldn’t he be under constant surveillance as a potential spy and subversive??
