As George Carlin so wonderfully put it: “pro-life” conservatives don’t give a shit about you after you’re born — until you reach military age, that is. No matter how a child is conceived, be it rape or incest or plain ol’ lack of planning, they want that thing born no matter what, even if it kills the mother. Oh yeah, and they also support the death penalty. Apparently the “pro-life” crowd likes to pick and choose which lives are worth saving.
The DC Abortion Fund, a non-profit group that helps local low-income women afford abortion care, has been giving out coat hanger pendants to its donors for the past four years as a symbol of the dangerous methods women resort to when they are denied access to safe and legal abortion.
When the National Review discovered the pendants earlier this week, it set off a firestorm of conservative media outrage. Breitbart, The Drudge Report, The Daily Caller, former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain and Bristol Palin were among the conservative outlets and bloggers who piled on. “I honestly can’t believe that someone would celebrate the destruction of babies (boys, and YES millions of girls) as a fashion statement for feminists,” Palin wrote in a blog post. “You know the phrase ‘they wear their heart of their sleeves?’ Well, I guess DC feminists love to wear death on their necks.”
Of course, Sarah Palin could tell me “Have a nice day” and I’d still tell her to go eat a bag of dicks. But I digress.
Here’s something else I find amusing: I want to know why they’re so offended by this coat hanger symbol but they’re just fine wearing the symbol of Jesus’ death around their necks. Don’t you think Jesus would be just a tad miffed if he came back and saw that? Talk about tasteless!
