Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick deletes “reap what you sow” tweet after mass shooting at LGBT club
A “reap what you sow” tweet from Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick that went out hours after approximately 50 people were killed at a Florida LGBT nightclub has been deleted amid backlash. At precisely 7 a.m. Sunday Dan Patrick tweeted a photo with the words of Galatians 6:7. The verse reads, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
I’m not surprised in the least that this came out of Texas…but it seems to me that what America is really reaping is mountains of dead bodies bought and paid for by NRA lobbyists and Republicans who refuse to do anything about it except offer “thoughts and prayers.” But I digress…
Patrick’s adviser Allen Blakemore issued a statement explaining that the tweet was an unfortunate coincidence. …A Bible verse is tweeted from Patrick’s account every Sunday at 7 a.m.
Riiiiight. Great bit of P.R. there. All you have to do is read the kind of shit he tweets regularly (anti-choice, anti-gay, anti-poor, pro-white, pro-Christian, pro-discrimination, etc.) and it’s not much of a leap to conclude that he’d post this intentionally. The only upside to all this is the vast sea of backlash he’s swimming in at the moment. You wanted attention, Mr. Not-Even-A-Governor, and now you have it.
(Side note: even if it was just a crazy coincidence that this tweet was unintentional, do you really need to be auto-tweeting Bible verses? What’s the point, to gather Likes? Matthew 6:6: “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Oh but if you do that, nobody will see what a stellar Christian you are! Can’t have that, now can we?)
This Jesusdouche was parading around outside a high school in Arizona holding a sign saying “You dserve to be raped.” You won’t believe what happens next!
Anti-Gay Preacher Assaulted With Baseball Bat Outside Arizona High School: VIDEO
An anti-gay Arizona street preacher required hospital treatment after he was hit over the head with a baseball bat by an offended student. Dean Saxton was hollering homophobic abuse outside Apollo High School when Tabitha Brubaker (19) attacked the Glendale preacher.
No, he probably didn’t deserve to be physically attacked…because when that kind of thing happens, the attackee will use it to say “See how violent the homos are? See how intolerant they are to innocent Christians who just want to worship??” As if his shithead behavior should be tolerated in any way. If this were somewhere other than Arizona I’d say to call the cops and have him tossed in jail (and maybe get a taste of that rape he’s so fond of recommending) but we all know that wouldn’t happen there.
And, as expected, he plays the repressed-speech victim card on Twitter, milking it to death by posting the photo of him with some blood on his head over and over and over. What an attention slut. Oh poor, poor you, inciting violence and complaining when you get some. Your actions will have consequences, asshole. *bonk*
Stories like this bring me such a torrent of schadenfreude I almost can’t stand it. Oh, it’s definitely horrible (and unsurprising) that it was reported to the Archbishop and completely ignored…I mean, it’s what we’ve come to expect from the Church. But the antics of this predatory, closeted scumbag are now out in the open, and watching the Church squirm and scramble to handle yet another P.R. mess is damn fine entertainment in my book.
Priest Who Wrote Vatican’s Anti-Gay Guidelines Accused of Sex With Male Seminarians
A French priest who has written disparagingly about gay people and acted as a counselor to student and novice priests struggling with their sexuality has been accused of having sex with male clients. Monsignor Tony Anatrella – who earlier this year told new Bishops they are not obligated to report a suspected abuser to authorities – is still regularly consulted on matters of sexuality by the Vatican.
One of his accusers said that Anatrella engaged in various sex acts with him in the Monsignor’s Paris office, with the activity allegedly occurring up until a few years ago. Daniel Lamarca claims Anatrella said he could rid him of his “pseudo-homosexuality” by performing sex acts.
So he’s using the “like cures like” method to basically wank the gay out of someone. Damn, those priests are really getting creative!
Oh, this is hiiiiii-larious! Can’t you just hear the petulant whining in her voice? It’s the sound of a vapid troglodyte who’s finally figuring out that her hateful views are not supported by all the American retail giants. Because, apparently, it’s incredibly important for bigots to be able to shop in stores that support bigotry. Whatever, lady.
Mission America’s Linda Harvey has penned her latest unseemly screed on WorldNetDaily, this time lamenting that Religious Right activists such as herself are running out of places to shop — because they’ve boycotted pro-LGBTQ businesses.
She writes: “Well, it’s that time again — time to get out the Christmas list and start hitting the stores. The problem is — what stores? For any Christian who wants to spend hard-earned dollars with family-friendly, Christian-affirming retailers, restaurants and service providers, the list is growing shorter all the time.”

Well boo-fuckin’-hoo. I guess you’ll be doing all your shopping at Hobby Lobby and Chick-Fil-A this year, hmmm? Now get back to work! Don’t you have a cross to burn somewhere? And those Obama effigies can’t flog themselves, you know. Priorities, people!
Just the name “National Religious Liberties Conference” screams insanity-tinged Christian hysteria. And boy, does it deliver! Gays should be put to death, birth control is made of tiny babies, “Frozen” turns your little girls into lesbians…it’s quite the list of unhinged religious bullshit. And the three most extremely anti-gay GOP candidates are proudly attending this conference in order to tell the world “Yes, we support all this hateful stuff and we wanna run the country. Praise Jesus!” It’s utterly despicable, but we shouldn’t be surprised.
And no, “Frozen” won’t turn your child gay…but it will hook them on bad musicals.
Three GOP Candidates Join Pastor Who Thinks Frozen Turns Kids Gay
Next week, Des Moines, Iowa will play host to the National Religious Liberties Conference—a warm, welcoming place where you get to hear about how birth control literally fills women’s wombs with tiny dead fetus babies and how homosexuals should be put to death. Naturally, GOP candidates Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal, and Mike Huckabee were more than happy to sign up.
Five minutes of truth from a preacher who knows exactly what to say and how it needs to be delivered. The Christian press is falling all over itself to point out that he doesn’t condone gay marriage, and it doesn’t surprise me that they’re focusing on that instead of all the other stuff he said. Who cares if he doesn’t think gay marriage is OK? Most preachers don’t. But in the larger picture, the rest of his message is what’s going to have an impact. Or at least I hope it will.
Well that’s a nice change from the usual Vatican line. Of course they’re still going to think gay folks (and the divorced) should feel guilty for being chock-full of sin, but it’s a teensy bit better than what we’re used to hearing. The cynical side of me thinks it might just be a little PR work because the Church’s numbers have been plummeting in the past few years, but I’d like to think they’re slowly being dragged into this century…though they’re digging in their heels and making it as difficult as possible.
Vatican Spokesman: Gay People ‘Are Our Sons and Daughters and Brothers and Sisters’
Vatican spokesman Thomas Rosica, speaking at the synod yesterday, talked of the need for the Catholic Church to be more inclusive, particularly with regard to gay and lesbian people.
“There must be an end to exclusionary language and a strong emphasis on embracing reality as it is; we should not be afraid,” he said. “We do not pity gay persons but we recognize them for who they are. They are our sons and daughters and brothers and sisters.”
